Adult Grief Recovery Group

What is a Grief Recovery Group? The group we offer at St. Sabina is based on an adult mutual self-help grief recovery model. It is a safe place to recognize and acknowledge a painful loss. The participants are grievers that are courageous and have chosen to be proactive rather than passive.  It’s a place to give your grief its voice. Advanced registration is important; group size is limited, but we need at least five participants to have a group. All are welcome; you do not have to be a parishioner to participate. Friends and family members are welcome.

When and How to Register? This year our group will begin Tuesday morning, March 12 at 10:00am. The group will meet once a week for six weeks. To register or for more information contact Marta Roper at 816-979-3154 or

In a society which is much more inclined to help you hide your pain rather than to grow through it, it is necessary to make a very conscious effort to mourn. Henri Nouwen, “In Memoriam” (Notre Dame, Ind.: Ave Maria Press)
